Why Most People Stay Stuck in the Idea Phase (And How to Move Forward)
Hello, it’s me! I’m the one who was stuck in the ideation phase for YEARS! I couldn’t figure out what was stopping me from starting my business. The truth is, most people don’t stay stuck because they lack discipline or talent. They stay stuck because the idea phase feels safe.
When something is just an idea, it can’t fail yet. No one can judge it. You don’t have to explain it. You don’t have to commit to it. It can stay perfect in your head. So I, like many people, stayed in the comfort of the idea stage for years.
The problem is, the longer you stay there, the harder it feels to move. You keep thinking, “I just need a little more clarity,” or “Once I feel more confident, I’ll start.” But confidence doesn’t come before action. It comes from action. It’s not immediate confidence, but confidence that builds with every small win.
Here’s the deception: thinking about your idea feels productive, but it’s not progress. You think you are mentally working through every problem and scenario, but my friend, you truly don’t know the challenges until you take the first step.
Progress starts when you make one small decision to move forward. You don’t need to know the full plan. You don’t need the perfect name, offer, or strategy. You just need to decide that you will take the first step.
The first step is always scary, but it’s much scarier to never actually start and wonder what an incredible business this could have been if you had just taken that first step to go from idea to business.
